Shipping from Dubai
to Tonga.
We ship from Dubai and from anywhere in the UAE to Tonga by sea and by air. We carry business and personal cargo. The sailing is about six and a half weeks through two transhipments. If you are sending a vehicle, there is a rule in motion that most pages have not caught up with, and we check where it stands before you buy rather than after.
Overview
Sea and air freight
to Tonga.
Shipping from Dubai to Tonga takes about 44 to 45 days by sea. Current route planning puts Jebel Ali to Nuku’alofa at around 45 days with two transhipments, typically through Singapore and then Suva in Fiji. Nuku’alofa on Tongatapu is the main international sea gateway. Neiafu serves the Vava’u group and Pangai serves Ha’apai, both reached after cargo enters Tonga. Imports are cleared using the Customs Import Entry Form C13 with supporting shipping documents, and restricted goods can need a separate permit. On vehicles, a prohibition on cars aged 10 years or more was officially deferred until 30 June 2026, and we confirm its current status before you ship rather than publishing a limit we have not checked. We deliver across Tongatapu, Vava’u and Ha’apai.

Ports and gateways
Sea ports and airports
we ship to from Dubai.
Every bill of lading carries two ports: where the cargo loads, and where it discharges. We load at Jebel Ali or another UAE port. Sea cargo to Tonga discharges at Nuku’alofa, the only sea port in the country, so there is no discharge port to choose. What is worth choosing is the mode, and where the cargo clears.

The right one is whichever leaves the shortest inland leg to your delivery address. On a long lane that leg is a shipment in its own right, so it is planned rather than assumed.

How cargo reaches Nuku’alofa
Shipping from Dubai to Nuku’alofa takes about 45 days on current route planning, with two transhipments on the way. It is the main international sea gateway and everything bound for the outer island groups is redistributed from here. Sea freight is priced per container on a full load and per cubic metre on a shared one. Get a rate for Nuku’alofa - NeiafuTONEIIsland port, Vava’uThe Vava’u island group
How cargo reaches Neiafu
Shipping from Dubai to Neiafu enters Tonga through Nuku’alofa, then continues on a domestic vessel to the Vava’u group. That second leg runs to a limited schedule and sets the timing, so we confirm the days when we quote. Nuku’alofa is the alternative when clearing and trucking on suits better. The quote separates ocean freight, transshipment, the inter island leg, wharf handling, customs, biosecurity and delivery. How cargo reaches Pangai
Shipping from Dubai to Pangai enters Tonga through Nuku’alofa, then continues on a domestic vessel to the Ha’apai group, where the wharf takes only small vessels. That second leg sets the timing, so we confirm the days when we quote. Nuku’alofa is the alternative for anything heavy or oversized. Before you ship
Import rules
for Tonga.
Tonga clears imports on the Customs Import Entry Form C13 together with the supporting shipping documents. Restricted goods can require a separate permit or approval, so the commodity is worth checking before shipment even though there is no universal pre-shipment registration. The live issue is vehicles. An official notice published in March 2026 said that implementation of a prohibition on vehicles aged 10 years or more had been deferred until 30 June 2026. That date has now passed, and we have not independently confirmed what is being enforced today. So we will not print an age limit, and we will not tell you there is none. We check the current position with Tonga Revenue and Customs at the time you ship, because on a rule that has already moved once, the only answer worth having is the one from this week.

Documentation
Documents you need
for Tonga.
These 9 cover most shipments to Tonga. The exact list depends on the commodity and its HS code, so send us both and we confirm what applies before the cargo is booked.
- 01Invoice showing what you paid for the goods
- 02Packing list showing what is inside
- 03Certificate of origin showing where the goods were made
- 04Bill of lading or air waybill, which is the shipping ticket
- 05Dubai export paper, which we do for you
- 06Customs Import Entry Form C13
- 07Supporting commercial documents
- 08Import permit or certificate where a restricted commodity requires one
- 09Proof of year of manufacture on a vehicle import
Get the paperwork right in Dubai and clearance at destination is routine. Fixing a document after arrival is slow, and storage accrues the whole time it takes.

Questions
Cargo to Tonga
questions, answered.
The 16 we are asked most on the Dubai to Tonga route. If yours is not here, send it with the commodity and we will answer it directly.
Do you offer movers and packers for a house move from Dubai to Tonga?
Yes. Our movers and packers do the packing, wrapping and listing in Dubai, then we ship your furniture and household goods in a full container, or share one if you have less to send. The item by item list matters, because customs clear personal effects against it. Fuel, gas cylinders, paint, aerosols and loose batteries cannot travel, and we give you the full list before packing day.
Can you ship my car from Dubai to Tonga?
Yes. The car goes inside a container, sealed and protected, and we handle the export paperwork in Dubai. Tonga sets its own rules on vehicle age, specification and approval, and duty on a vehicle is worked out differently from general cargo, so tell us the make, model and year first and we will confirm what applies before you commit.
How long does shipping from Dubai to Tonga take?
Sea freight takes about 44 to 45 days. Current route planning puts Jebel Ali to Nuku’alofa at around 45 days with two transhipments, typically through Singapore and then Suva in Fiji. Cargo continuing to Vava’u or Ha’apai adds a domestic leg after that.
Can I ship a 10 year old car to Tonga?
That is exactly the question we check rather than answer from memory. A prohibition on vehicles aged 10 years or more was officially deferred until 30 June 2026, which has now passed, and we have not independently confirmed what is being enforced today. We will not print a limit we cannot stand behind, and we will not tell you there is none. Send us the year of manufacture and we will confirm the current position before you buy.
Why will you not just give me the vehicle age limit?
Because the rule has already moved once, and a page that prints a confident number is telling you what was true on the day it was written. On a deferred rule, the only useful answer is the current one. We ask Tonga Revenue and Customs at the time you ship. It takes us a call and saves you a car.
How long does air freight to Tonga take?
It runs on connecting services and we could not verify a current published Dubai transit range, so we quote the days from the actual service we can book rather than printing a number. If another page gives you a confident air figure for this lane, it is worth asking which service it is on.
What is the C13 form?
It is the Customs Import Entry Form Tonga uses to clear imports, filed with the supporting shipping documents. Restricted goods can need a separate permit on top. There is no universal pre-shipment registration, so the commodity is what to check before you book.
How much does shipping from Dubai to Tonga cost?
It depends on what you send, how big it is, and which island group it is going to. We do not publish prices because every shipment is different. Sea freight is priced per container when you fill one, and per cubic metre when you share one. The domestic leg to Vava’u or Ha’apai is quoted as its own line. Send us the details.
Which places in Tonga do you deliver to?
Across the island groups. Nuku’alofa, Haveluloto, Vaini, Mu’a, Lapaha, Kolonga, Nukunuku and Ha’ateiho on Tongatapu, then Neiafu in Vava’u, Pangai in Ha’apai, Ohonua on ‘Eua and Hihifo in the north. Anything beyond Tongatapu depends on the domestic sailing schedule.
Do you deliver to Vava’u and Ha’apai?
Yes. Cargo lands at Nuku’alofa and continues on a domestic leg, into Neiafu for Vava’u and Pangai for Ha’apai. That second service sets the delivery date, so we confirm its schedule rather than quoting a date we do not control.
Do you deliver door to door?
Yes. We handle freight forwarding to Tonga door to door. We collect the goods in Dubai, move them, file the C13 at Nuku’alofa and bring them to your address, including the island leg where one is needed.
Can I send a small shipment, or do I need a full container?
You can send as little as one box or one pallet. We put small shipments from different customers into one shared container. This is called LCL, or less than container load. Your goods load at Jebel Ali and come into Nuku’alofa. When you have more goods, you move up to your own full container, which is called FCL. We will tell you which one is cheaper.
Do you handle customs clearance in Tonga?
Yes, at both ends. We do customs clearance in Dubai and file the Customs Import Entry Form C13 with the supporting documents in Tonga, along with any permit a restricted commodity needs.
Can you collect the goods from my supplier in Dubai?
Yes. We collect anywhere in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE. We can also hold your goods in warehousing and storage in Dubai until you are ready to ship. On a vehicle that is genuinely useful, because it lets the car wait in Dubai while we confirm the current rule.
Can you move my household goods to Tonga?
Yes. We move full house moves and part loads. We could not verify a returning-resident concession for Tonga, so we will not promise relief we have not checked. Tell us your situation and we will find out what applies rather than assuming.
Why does the sailing take six and a half weeks?
Because Tonga is reached by relay rather than a direct line from the Gulf. The cargo changes ship twice, usually at Singapore and then at Suva, and each connection adds handling and a schedule to catch. The distance alone would not explain it.
