Shipping from Dubai
to Chile.

We ship from Dubai and from anywhere in the UAE to Chile by sea and by air. We carry business and personal cargo. Chile sits at the far side of the world from the Gulf and the sea leg reflects that. There is also one rule worth knowing before you spend money: ordinary used vehicles generally cannot be imported at all.

Overview

Sea and air freight
to Chile.

Shipping from Dubai to Chile takes about 51 to 55 days by sea, and 2 to 5 days by air. Current container routing is around 51 days and 9 hours, and a Dubai to Santiago route through San Antonio with two transhipments comes to about 55 days including terminal handling and inland delivery. San Antonio is the principal container gateway for the Santiago market, with Valparaiso the other major option serving the same central region. Air cargo flies into Arturo Merino Benitez at Santiago. One rule matters more than any transit figure here: Chile generally permits import only of unused vehicles, so an ordinary used car from Dubai is not a normal import. We deliver everywhere, including Santiago, Valparaiso, Concepcion, Antofagasta, Vina del Mar, Temuco and Puerto Montt. Navo Shipping handles the sea freight, air freight and customs clearance on the Dubai to Chile route, door to door.

Ports and gateways

Sea ports and airports
we ship to from Dubai.

Every bill of lading carries two ports: where the cargo loads, and where it discharges. We load at Jebel Ali or another UAE port. Chile has two sea ports we use and one airport. They suit different cargo and different inland legs, so the loading port and the discharge port are worth choosing separately.

  1. POLPort of loading

We collect anywhere in the UAE, free zones included, and load at whichever of these eight suits the cargo.

  2. PODPort of discharge

The right one is whichever leaves the shortest inland leg to your delivery address. On a long lane that leg is a shipment in its own right, so it is planned rather than assumed.

How cargo reaches Port of San Antonio Shipping from Dubai to San Antonio is the main route into Chile. Current routing uses multiple transhipments and a Dubai to Santiago movement through here comes to about 55 days including terminal handling and inland delivery. San Antonio is the principal container gateway for the Santiago market. Sea freight is priced per container on a full load and per cubic metre on a shared one. Get a rate for Port of San Antonio

How cargo reaches Port of Valparaiso Shipping from Dubai to Valparaiso is relayed through an Asian hub across the Pacific, or through the Panama Canal, because nothing sails direct from the Gulf. It is the closest port to Santiago by road. Times vary from ship to ship, so we confirm the days when we quote. San Antonio is the alternative and handles more containers. The quote separates ocean freight, transshipment, carrier surcharges, terminal handling, customs, tax and final delivery. Get a rate for Port of Valparaiso

Before you ship

Import rules
for Chile.

Chile does not require one universal permit for every ordinary import, so most commercial cargo moves on a normal customs declaration. Regulated products are the exception: agricultural and food goods can need authorisation or certificates from the agricultural service, and health and industrial products from their own regulators, all of which should be arranged before the cargo ships rather than after. But the rule worth putting first on this lane concerns vehicles, because it stops people spending money badly. Chile generally permits the import only of unused vehicles. There are defined exceptions for particular special vehicles, duty exempt cases and specific customs or free zone regimes, but an ordinary used passenger car bought in Dubai is not a normal import here. Ask us before you buy rather than before you ship.

Documentation

Documents you need
for Chile.

These 9 cover most shipments to Chile. The exact list depends on the commodity and its HS code, so send us both and we confirm what applies before the cargo is booked.

  • 01Invoice showing what you paid for the goods
  • 02Packing list showing what is inside
  • 03Certificate of origin showing where the goods were made
  • 04Bill of lading or air waybill, which is the shipping ticket
  • 05Dubai export paper, which we do for you
  • 06Chilean customs import declaration
  • 07Freight insurance evidence, where it is required
  • 08Import permit or sector approval, where the commodity is regulated
  • 09Agricultural service sanitary or plant health documentation, where it applies

Get the paperwork right in Dubai and clearance at destination is routine. Fixing a document after arrival is slow, and storage accrues the whole time it takes.

Questions

Cargo to Chile
questions, answered.

The 16 we are asked most on the Dubai to Chile route. If yours is not here, send it with the commodity and we will answer it directly.

Do you offer movers and packers for a house move from Dubai to Chile?

Yes. Our movers and packers do the packing, wrapping and listing in Dubai, then we ship your furniture and household goods in a full container, or share one if you have less to send. The item by item list matters, because customs clear personal effects against it. Fuel, gas cylinders, paint, aerosols and loose batteries cannot travel, and we give you the full list before packing day.

Can you ship a used car from Dubai to Chile?

Usually not, and this is worth settling before you spend money. Chile generally permits the import only of unused vehicles. There are defined exceptions covering particular special vehicles, duty exempt cases and specific customs or free zone regimes, but an ordinary used passenger car from Dubai is not a normal import. Tell us your exact situation and we will check whether an exception applies before you buy anything.

How long does shipping from Dubai to Chile take?

Sea freight to Chile takes about 51 to 55 days, and air freight to Chile takes 2 to 5 days as a cargo planning range. Current container routing is around 51 days and 9 hours, and a route through San Antonio to Santiago comes to about 55 days including terminal handling and inland delivery. We give you a date in writing when we quote.

How much does shipping from Dubai to Chile cost?

It depends on what you send, how big it is, and where in Chile it is going. We do not publish prices because every shipment is different. Sea freight to Chile is priced per container when you fill one, and per cubic metre when you share one. Air freight to Chile is priced on weight or size, whichever is greater. Send us the details and we send you a price in writing, usually the same day.

Which cities in Chile do you deliver to?

All of them. Santiago, Valparaiso, Concepcion, Antofagasta, Vina del Mar, Temuco, Rancagua, Talca, Puerto Montt, Coquimbo, La Serena, Chillan, Iquique, Osorno, Copiapo and Arica. Chile is long and thin, so a delivery in the far north or south adds a substantial road leg, which we quote properly.

Which ports in Chile do you ship to?

San Antonio is the principal container gateway for the Santiago market. Valparaiso is the other major option serving the same central region. For air cargo we fly into Arturo Merino Benitez at Santiago.

San Antonio or Valparaiso?

Either works for the central region, and the choice usually comes down to which the carrier calls rather than a meaningful difference in the inland leg. Both sit within easy reach of Santiago. We book whichever has the better service that week.

Is it worth flying instead?

On this lane, often. Air is 2 to 5 days against a sea leg approaching two months. Current flight routing can be about a day in the air, with handling and clearance on top. That is one of the widest sea against air gaps we deal with, so it deserves a real comparison rather than an assumption.

Does my product need a permit?

It might. Chile does not require one universal permit, but agricultural and food goods can need authorisation or certificates from the agricultural service, and health and industrial products from their own regulators. Those should be arranged before the cargo ships. Send us the product and the HS code and we will check.

Do you deliver door to door?

Yes. We handle freight forwarding to Chile door to door. We collect the goods in Dubai, move them, clear them through customs, and bring them to your address. You deal with one company for the whole journey.

Can I send a small shipment, or do I need a full container?

You can send as little as one box or one pallet. We put small shipments from different customers into one shared container. This is called LCL, or less than container load. Your goods load at Jebel Ali and come into San Antonio. When you have more goods, you move up to your own full container, which is called FCL. On a lane this long we will tell you honestly which is better.

Do you handle customs clearance in Chile?

Yes, at both ends. We handle customs clearance in Dubai and customs clearance in Chile. You do not need to find your own clearing agent.

Can you collect the goods from my supplier in Dubai?

Yes. We collect anywhere in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE. We can also hold your goods in warehousing and storage in Dubai until you are ready to ship. On a lane this long, consolidating properly before anything sails is worth the effort.

Can you ship machinery and heavy equipment to Chile?

Yes. We move project cargo to Chile as well, and mining equipment for the north is a lot of what moves this way. Big, heavy items go in open top or flat rack containers, or loose on the ship. Send us the size and weight and the delivery city and we will work out the best way to move it.

Can you move my household goods to Chile?

Yes. We move full house moves and part loads to Chile, including Santiago, Valparaiso and Concepcion. We pack, collect, move and deliver, and we handle the customs clearance so your things are not waiting on paperwork.

I am returning to Chile. Do I get relief on my belongings?

You may. Chile has customs relief provisions for qualifying household goods and work tools belonging to Chileans returning after periods abroad, and the entitlement varies with the circumstances and how long you were away. A vehicle is not ordinary household effects under this relief and the used vehicle rules still apply. Tell us your dates and we will explain what to expect.
