Shipping from Dubai
to New Caledonia.
We ship from Dubai and from anywhere in the UAE to New Caledonia by sea and by air. We carry business and personal cargo. There is no universal import authorisation here, so most ordinary cargo is straightforward. The part worth reading is the vehicle section, because the well known 24 month rule is not what most pages claim it is.
Overview
Sea and air freight
to New Caledonia.
Shipping from Dubai to New Caledonia takes about 35 to 40 days by sea, and 6 to 8 days by air. Current route planning puts Jebel Ali to Noumea at around 35 to 40 days through one transhipment, including terminal handling. Noumea is the principal international gateway and handles almost all containerised cargo. Ducos and Doniambo are adjacent industrial and bulk terminals in the same harbour area. Air cargo flies into La Tontouta at Noumea. There is no universal import authorisation, so most ordinary goods clear on the standard declaration, though plant and animal products need sanitary permits. We deliver across Grande Terre, including Noumea, Dumbea, Mont-Dore, Paita, Bourail and Kone.

Ports and gateways
Sea ports and airports
we ship to from Dubai.
Every bill of lading carries two ports: where the cargo loads, and where it discharges. We load at Jebel Ali or another UAE port. New Caledonia has three sea ports we use and one airport. They suit different cargo and different inland legs, so the loading port and the discharge port are worth choosing separately.
POLPort of loading
We collect anywhere in the UAE, free zones included, and load at whichever of these eight suits the cargo.

PODPort of discharge
The right one is whichever leaves the shortest inland leg to your delivery address. On a long lane that leg is a shipment in its own right, so it is planned rather than assumed.

How cargo reaches Noumea
Shipping from Dubai to Noumea runs about 35 to 40 days on current route planning, through one transhipment and including terminal handling. Noumea handles almost all containerised cargo for the territory, so for most shipments the port choice is not really a choice. Sea freight is priced per container on a full load and per cubic metre on a shared one. Get a rate for Noumea - DucosNCDUSSea port, Noumea harbour areaIndustrial cargo around Noumea
How cargo reaches Ducos
Shipping from Dubai to Ducos requires confirmed terminal acceptance, because these berths inside the Noumea harbour area handle industrial and non standard loads rather than routine containers. Times vary from ship to ship, so we confirm the days when we quote. Noumea is the alternative for anything in a container. The quote separates ocean freight, transshipment, terminal and equipment charges, customs, local transfer, storage and delivery. How cargo reaches Doniambo
Shipping from Dubai to Doniambo works only when the industrial terminal confirms the commodity, vessel, berth and discharge method, because the wharf serves the nickel smelter and bulk traffic. Times vary from ship to ship, so we confirm the days when we quote. Noumea is the alternative for general cargo. The quote separates ocean freight, charter or inducement, berth, equipment, customs, storage and delivery. Get a rate for Doniambo - La Tontouta International AirportNOUAirportNoumea and Grande Terre
How cargo reaches La Tontouta International Airport
Air freight from Dubai to La Tontouta International connects through a Pacific or Asian hub, subject to commodity, space, screening and local cargo handling approval. It is New Caledonia's only international airport and sits about an hour by road from Noumea. Times vary from flight to flight, so we confirm the days when we quote. Noumea by sea is the alternative for volume. The quote separates uplift, connection, screening, terminal, customs, biosecurity and final delivery charges. Import rules
for New Caledonia.
New Caledonia does not require a universal import authorisation for commercial goods. Most ordinary cargo clears on the standard customs declaration lodged in the territory customs system. Plant and animal products are the exception and need sanitary or phytosanitary permits from the local rural affairs authority. Now the part worth getting right. A lot of pages state that vehicles over 24 months old cannot be imported into New Caledonia. That is a misreading. The 24 month figure sits in the relocation relief rules, where a vehicle must have been acquired more than 24 months before it is imported to qualify for duty free treatment on a move. It is a condition for relief, not a ban on importing older cars. We could not verify a general maximum age limit for ordinary vehicle imports. If a page tells you your car is too old to enter, ask which rule they mean.

Documentation
Documents you need
for New Caledonia.
These 9 cover most shipments to New Caledonia. The exact list depends on the commodity and its HS code, so send us both and we confirm what applies before the cargo is booked.
- 01Invoice showing what you paid for the goods
- 02Packing list showing what is inside
- 03Certificate of origin showing where the goods were made
- 04Bill of lading or air waybill, which is the shipping ticket
- 05Dubai export paper, which we do for you
- 06Customs declaration lodged in the territory customs system
- 07Sanitary or phytosanitary permit, for plant and animal products
- 08Proof of ownership period, on a relocation vehicle claiming relief
- 09Proof of residence abroad, on a household move
Get the paperwork right in Dubai and clearance at destination is routine. Fixing a document after arrival is slow, and storage accrues the whole time it takes.

Questions
Cargo to New Caledonia
questions, answered.
The 15 we are asked most on the Dubai to New Caledonia route. If yours is not here, send it with the commodity and we will answer it directly.
Do you offer movers and packers for a house move from Dubai to New Caledonia?
Yes. Our movers and packers do the packing, wrapping and listing in Dubai, then we ship your furniture and household goods in a full container, or share one if you have less to send. The item by item list matters, because customs clear personal effects against it. Fuel, gas cylinders, paint, aerosols and loose batteries cannot travel, and we give you the full list before packing day.
How long does shipping from Dubai to New Caledonia take?
Sea freight takes about 35 to 40 days, and air freight takes 6 to 8 days. Current route planning puts Jebel Ali to Noumea in that range through one transhipment, including terminal handling. It is one of the longer sea lanes we run, which is geography rather than service quality.
Can I import a car over two years old into New Caledonia?
The 24 month figure that circulates on this subject is not an import ban. It belongs to the relocation relief rules, where a vehicle must have been acquired more than 24 months before importation to qualify for duty free treatment on a move. It is a condition for relief, not a bar on entry. We could not verify a general maximum age for ordinary vehicle imports. Send us the make, model and year and we will check rather than guess.
Do I need an import permit for New Caledonia?
Not a universal one. There is no blanket import authorisation for commercial goods, so most ordinary cargo clears on the standard customs declaration. Plant and animal products are the exception and need sanitary or phytosanitary permits from the local rural affairs authority. Send us the product and we will confirm before you book.
How much does shipping from Dubai to New Caledonia cost?
It depends on what you send, how big it is, and where on Grande Terre it is going. We do not publish prices because every shipment is different. Sea freight is priced per container when you fill one, and per cubic metre when you share one. Air freight is priced on weight or size, whichever is greater. Send us the details and we will put it in writing.
Which places in New Caledonia do you deliver to?
Across Grande Terre. Noumea, Dumbea, Mont-Dore, Paita, Bourail, Kone, Poindimie, La Foa, Koumac, Voh, Thio, Canala, Houailou, Poya, Boulouparis and Yate. Almost everything arrives at Noumea, so the variable on this lane is the road leg rather than the port.
Does everything come through Noumea?
For containerised cargo, effectively yes. Noumea is the principal international gateway and handles almost all container traffic. Ducos and Doniambo are industrial and bulk terminals in the same harbour area rather than alternative destinations, though for heavy industrial consignments they can be relevant and we will say so.
Do you deliver door to door?
Yes. We handle freight forwarding to New Caledonia door to door. We collect the goods in Dubai, move them, clear them through customs and bring them to your address anywhere on Grande Terre.
Can I send a small shipment, or do I need a full container?
You can send as little as one box or one pallet. We put small shipments from different customers into one shared container. This is called LCL, or less than container load. Your goods load at Jebel Ali and come into Noumea. When you have more goods, you move up to your own full container, which is called FCL. We will tell you which one is cheaper.
Is air freight worth it to New Caledonia?
The gap is wide enough to make it a real question. Sea is 35 to 40 days and air is 6 to 8, so for anything urgent or high value air is worth pricing rather than dismissing. La Tontouta is the international gateway, about an hour by road from Noumea.
Do you handle customs clearance in New Caledonia?
Yes, at both ends. We do customs clearance in Dubai and the declaration in the territory customs system on arrival, along with any sanitary permit the goods need.
Can you collect the goods from my supplier in Dubai?
Yes. We collect anywhere in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE. We can also hold your goods in warehousing and storage in Dubai until you are ready to ship, which on a 35 to 40 day lane is often better than shipping something before you need it there.
Can you ship machinery and industrial equipment?
Yes. We move project cargo to New Caledonia as well, and the nickel industry means heavy equipment is a real part of this lane. Big items go in open top or flat rack containers, or loose on the ship, and for bulk industrial consignments the Doniambo terminal can be the right berth. Send us the size, weight and destination.
Can you move my household goods to New Caledonia?
Yes. We move full house moves and part loads. Relocation relief has its own conditions, including how long you have owned the goods and how long you have lived abroad, and for a vehicle the 24 month ownership point applies to that relief rather than to entry. Tell us your dates and we will work through it with you.
Do you deliver to the far north of Grande Terre?
Yes. Kone, Koumac and Voh are all reached by road from Noumea, and it is a long drive. We quote that leg properly rather than pretending the island is one delivery zone, because the difference between a Noumea delivery and a Koumac one is real.
