Shipping from Dubai
to Nicaragua.

We ship from Dubai and from anywhere in the UAE to Nicaragua by sea and by air. We carry business and personal cargo. Corinto on the Pacific is the working gateway and cargo reaches it with two transhipments. If a vehicle is involved, the age rule here is the strictest in Central America.

Overview

Sea and air freight
to Nicaragua.

Shipping from Dubai to Nicaragua takes about 49 days by sea and around 7 days by air on current route models. Cargo normally moves through Corinto with two transhipments, which is where the time goes. Corinto on the Pacific is Nicaragua’s main international container gateway and serves Managua, Leon, Chinandega and most of the west and centre. Bluefields and El Bluff on the Caribbean side are regional gateways with more limited international options. Air cargo flies into Augusto C. Sandino at Managua. Your buyer registers first as a taxpayer and then with the customs authority, and controlled goods need permits through the single window. Vehicles five years old or older are prohibited from ordinary import. We deliver everywhere, including Managua, Leon, Masaya, Matagalpa, Chinandega, Granada and Esteli.

Ports and gateways

Sea ports and airports
we ship to from Dubai.

Every bill of lading carries two ports: where the cargo loads, and where it discharges. We load at Jebel Ali or another UAE port. Sea cargo to Nicaragua discharges at Port of Corinto, the only sea port in the country, so there is no discharge port to choose. What is worth choosing is the mode, and where the cargo clears.

  1. POLPort of loading

We collect anywhere in the UAE, free zones included, and load at whichever of these eight suits the cargo.

  2. PODPort of discharge

The right one is whichever leaves the shortest inland leg to your delivery address. On a long lane that leg is a shipment in its own right, so it is planned rather than assumed.

How cargo reaches Port of Corinto Shipping from Dubai to Corinto is the route into Nicaragua, using Jebel Ali and two transhipments, with an average of about 49 days. Corinto is the country’s main international container gateway and serves the populated west and centre, with Managua a straightforward road leg inland. Sea freight is priced per container on a full load and per cubic metre on a shared one. Get a rate for Port of Corinto

How cargo reaches Bluefields Shipping from Dubai to Bluefields reaches the Caribbean coast through the Suez Canal or around Africa, then needs a small vessel, because the lagoon approach is shallow and larger ships work at El Bluff instead. Times vary from ship to ship, so we confirm the days when we quote. Corinto on the Pacific side is the alternative for containers. The quote separates ocean freight, routing surcharges, the coastal leg, wharf handling, customs, tax and delivery. Get a rate for Bluefields

How cargo reaches El Bluff Shipping from Dubai to El Bluff reaches the Caribbean coast through the Suez Canal or around Africa. It is the deeper anchorage outside Bluefields lagoon, so cargo for that region is worked here and moved across by barge. Times vary from ship to ship, so we confirm the days when we quote. Corinto is the alternative and carries the country's container traffic. The quote separates ocean freight, routing surcharges, lighterage, wharf handling, customs, tax and delivery. How cargo reaches Augusto C. Sandino International Airport Air freight from Dubai to Augusto C. Before you ship

Import rules
for Nicaragua.

Nicaragua asks your buyer to register twice, and it catches people out. A commercial importer first registers as a taxpayer with the revenue authority, and then registers that taxpayer number with the customs authority. Getting the first and assuming it covers the second leaves the shipment stuck. Controlled imports then need prior permits processed through the national single window and the responsible regulator, with health and agricultural products having their own approvals. If a vehicle is involved, Nicaragua has the strictest age rule in the region: vehicles five years old or older are prohibited from ordinary import, subject to specified exceptions covering certain historic or classic vehicles and defined donation, cargo or public transport categories. Ask us before you buy rather than before you ship.

Documentation

Documents you need
for Nicaragua.

These 11 cover most shipments to Nicaragua. The exact list depends on the commodity and its HS code, so send us both and we confirm what applies before the cargo is booked.

  • 01Invoice showing what you paid for the goods
  • 02Packing list showing what is inside
  • 03Certificate of origin showing where the goods were made
  • 04Bill of lading or air waybill, which is the shipping ticket
  • 05Dubai export paper, which we do for you
  • 06Active taxpayer registration and customs importer registration for the buyer
  • 07Nicaraguan customs declaration
  • 08Import permit through the single window, where required
  • 09Health approval, for regulated products
  • 10Sanitary or plant health approval, where it applies
  • 11Proof of fiscal solvency, where it is required

Get the paperwork right in Dubai and clearance at destination is routine. Fixing a document after arrival is slow, and storage accrues the whole time it takes.

How it works

Dubai to Nicaragua
shipping, step by step.

Send the cargo details: what it is, where it is going, rough weight and dimensions. We come back with the routes that suit it, sea against air, and a written rate with a validity date on it. You pick one, we book it, and one coordinator stays with the shipment until it is delivered in Nicaragua.

  1. 01

    Check both registrations

Send us who is receiving the goods so we can confirm both the taxpayer and the customs registration before anything moves.

  2. 02

    Get a price

We send you a price in writing, with every charge shown. No surprises later.

  3. 03

    We book and clear

We check any single window permit and, on a vehicle, the five year rule, then collect, load and clear at Corinto.

  4. 04

    We deliver

We track the shipment and keep you updated all the way, then bring the goods to your door.

Questions

Cargo to Nicaragua
questions, answered.

The 16 we are asked most on the Dubai to Nicaragua route. If yours is not here, send it with the commodity and we will answer it directly.

Do you offer movers and packers for a house move from Dubai to Nicaragua?

Yes. Our movers and packers do the packing, wrapping and listing in Dubai, then we ship your furniture and household goods in a full container, or share one if you have less to send. The item by item list matters, because customs clear personal effects against it. Fuel, gas cylinders, paint, aerosols and loose batteries cannot travel, and we give you the full list before packing day.

Can you ship a used car from Dubai to Nicaragua?

Only if it is under five years old. Nicaragua prohibits ordinary import of vehicles five years old or older, which is the strictest limit in Central America. There are specified exceptions covering certain historic or classic vehicles and defined donation, cargo and public transport categories, but a normal used car will usually fail. Send us the make, model and year before you buy and we will tell you where you stand.

How long does shipping from Dubai to Nicaragua take?

Sea freight to Nicaragua averages about 49 days and air freight about 7 days on current route models. Cargo normally moves through Corinto with two transhipments, and the waiting at each transfer is what makes the sea figure what it is. We give you a date in writing when we quote.

Does my buyer need to register twice?

Yes, and it is the thing that catches people out on this lane. A commercial importer first registers as a taxpayer with the revenue authority, and then registers that taxpayer number separately with the customs authority. Getting the first and assuming it covers the second leaves the shipment stuck. We confirm both before you book.

How much does shipping from Dubai to Nicaragua cost?

It depends on what you send, how big it is, and where in Nicaragua it is going. We do not publish prices because every shipment is different. Sea freight to Nicaragua is priced per container when you fill one, and per cubic metre when you share one. Air freight to Nicaragua is priced on weight or size, whichever is greater. Send us the details and we send you a price in writing, usually the same day.

Which cities in Nicaragua do you deliver to?

All of them. Managua, Leon, Masaya, Matagalpa, Chinandega, Granada, Esteli, Jinotega, Tipitapa, Juigalpa, Bluefields, Rivas, Ocotal, Somoto, Corinto and Puerto Cabezas. The Caribbean coast is separated from the rest of the country by difficult terrain, so we quote that leg separately rather than folding it in.

Which port does my cargo arrive at?

Corinto on the Pacific, which is Nicaragua’s main international container gateway and serves the populated west and centre. Bluefields and El Bluff on the Caribbean side are regional gateways with far more limited international options, and reaching them is a different logistics problem rather than an alternative for the same cargo.

Can you deliver to the Caribbean coast?

Yes, but tell us early. Bluefields and Puerto Cabezas are separated from the rest of Nicaragua by difficult terrain, so cargo either uses a regional Caribbean service or goes overland from the Pacific side on a long leg. That leg has its own schedule and cost and we quote it properly rather than treating the country as one delivery zone.

Does my product need a permit?

It might. Controlled imports need prior permits processed through the national single window and the responsible regulator, with health and agricultural products having their own approvals. Those should be obtained before the goods ship. Send us the HS code and we will check.

Is air freight worth it on this lane?

Often. Seven days by air against about seven weeks by sea is a wide gap, and on cargo where the delay costs you money it is worth pricing properly rather than assuming sea wins. We quote both.

Do you deliver door to door?

Yes. We handle freight forwarding to Nicaragua door to door. We collect the goods in Dubai, move them, clear them through customs, and bring them to your address. You deal with one company for the whole journey.

Can I send a small shipment, or do I need a full container?

You can send as little as one box or one pallet. We put small shipments from different customers into one shared container. This is called LCL, or less than container load. Your goods load at Jebel Ali and come into Corinto. When you have more goods, you move up to your own full container, which is called FCL. On a lane this long we will tell you honestly which is better.

Do you handle customs clearance in Nicaragua?

Yes, at both ends. We handle customs clearance in Dubai and customs clearance in Nicaragua. You do not need to find your own clearing agent.

Can you collect the goods from my supplier in Dubai?

Yes. We collect anywhere in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE. We can also hold your goods in warehousing and storage in Dubai until you are ready to ship. On this lane that is useful, because it lets the cargo wait while both buyer registrations are confirmed.

Can you ship machinery and heavy equipment to Nicaragua?

Yes. We move project cargo to Nicaragua as well. Big, heavy items go in open top or flat rack containers, or loose on the ship into Corinto. Note that some cargo and public transport vehicle categories fall under defined exceptions to the five year rule, so tell us what the equipment is. Send us the size and weight.

Can you move my household goods to Nicaragua?

Yes. We move full house moves and part loads to Nicaragua, including Managua, Leon and Granada. We pack, collect, move and deliver, and we handle the customs clearance so your things are not waiting on paperwork. We could not verify a returning national concession, so tell us your situation and we will check rather than promise.
