Ports and gateways
Sea ports and airports
we ship to from Dubai.
Every bill of lading carries two ports: where the cargo loads, and where it discharges. We load at Jebel Ali or another UAE port. Libya has five sea ports we use and three airports. They suit different cargo and different inland legs, so the loading port and the discharge port are worth choosing separately.
POLPort of loading
We collect anywhere in the UAE, free zones included, and load at whichever of these eight suits the cargo.

PODPort of discharge
The right one is whichever leaves the shortest inland leg to your delivery address. On a long lane that leg is a shipment in its own right, so it is planned rather than assumed.

How cargo reaches Tripoli
Shipping from Dubai to Tripoli runs down the Gulf, up the Red Sea, through the Suez Canal and west along the North African coast, roughly 15 to 30 days port to port, relaying at a Mediterranean hub rather than sailing direct. It is the largest general-cargo gateway in the country and the natural port for the capital and the western coastal belt. Sea freight is priced per container on FCL and per cubic metre on LCL, with the feeder leg reflected in both the rate and the transit. How cargo reaches Misrata
Shipping from Dubai to Misrata follows the same Suez and Mediterranean routing as Tripoli, roughly 15 to 30 days port to port. Misrata is the main container terminal in the west and is frequently the better served of the two, with a free zone alongside it for staging and consolidation. For a delivery anywhere on the central coast it is worth quoting against Tripoli rather than defaulting to the capital. How cargo reaches Khoms
Shipping from Dubai to Khoms can use an accepted container or specialist booking through an approved relay and a live Suez or Cape routing, after Upper Gulf safe passage checks. Times vary from ship to ship, so we confirm the days when we quote. Misrata is the alternative for the central coast, while Khoms is closer to the corridor between Tripoli and Misrata. The quote combines ocean freight, any relay or specialist leg, terminal handling, clearance and inland delivery. Get a rate for Khoms - BenghaziLYBENSea port · MediterraneanThe eastern region, cleared by the eastern administration
How cargo reaches Benghazi
Shipping from Dubai to Benghazi runs the same Suez routing with a Mediterranean relay, and we confirm the days when we quote because feeder calls east of Sirte are less frequent. The important point is administrative rather than nautical: a declaration at Benghazi goes to the eastern customs authority, not to Tripoli, and the document set is confirmed against that before booking. How cargo reaches Tobruk
Shipping from Dubai to Tobruk can use an accepted container or specialist booking through an approved relay and a live Suez or Cape routing, after Upper Gulf safe passage checks. Before you ship
Import rules
for Libya.
Libya is strict about documents and we prepare them properly for you. Your invoice and certificate of origin usually need to be stamped and approved before the goods leave Dubai. Some products also need a conformity check at this end. The paperwork has to match the goods exactly, because a difference between what the papers say and what is in the container is the most common reason cargo waits. We also check the buyer and the goods before we accept a booking, and we tell you at the start if there is a problem. Tell us what you are sending and we will set out exactly which papers you need.

Documentation
Documents you need
for Libya.
These 8 cover most shipments to Libya. The exact list depends on the commodity and its HS code, so send us both and we confirm what applies before the cargo is booked.
- 01Invoice showing what you paid for the goods
- 02Packing list showing what is inside
- 03Certificate of origin showing where the goods were made
- 04Bill of lading or air waybill, which is the shipping ticket
- 05Dubai export paper, which we do for you
- 06Stamped invoice and origin certificate, which we arrange in Dubai
- 07Conformity check, if your product needs one
- 08The Libyan buyer import licence
Get the paperwork right in Dubai and clearance at destination is routine. Fixing a document after arrival is slow, and storage accrues the whole time it takes.

Questions
Cargo to Libya
questions, answered.
The 14 we are asked most on the Dubai to Libya route. If yours is not here, send it with the commodity and we will answer it directly.
Do you offer movers and packers for a house move from Dubai to Libya?
Yes. Our movers and packers do the packing, wrapping and listing in Dubai, then we ship your furniture and household goods in a full container, or share one if you have less to send. The item by item list matters, because customs clear personal effects against it. Fuel, gas cylinders, paint, aerosols and loose batteries cannot travel, and we give you the full list before packing day.
How long does shipping from Dubai to Libya take?
About 15 to 30 days by sea, and 2 to 6 days by air. The sea route goes through the Red Sea and Suez into the Mediterranean. Add time for customs and delivery. We give you a date in writing when we quote.
How much does shipping from Dubai to Libya cost?
It depends on what you send, how big it is, and where in Libya it is going. We do not publish prices because every shipment is different. Sea freight to Libya is priced per container when you fill one, and per cubic metre when you share one. Air freight to Libya is priced on weight or size, whichever is greater. Send us the details and we send you a price in writing, usually the same day.
Which cities in Libya do you deliver to?
Tripoli, Misrata, Benghazi, Zawiya, Al Khums, Zliten, Sirte, Tobruk, Ajdabiya, Derna, Ghadames and Sabha. Just give us the address and we will quote the delivery.
Which Libyan ports do you ship to?
Tripoli, Misrata, Khoms and Benghazi. Misrata handles a lot of the container traffic and is often the smoother option. Tobruk serves the far east. We pick whichever is working best and is closest to you.
Why do my documents need stamping?
Libya requires the invoice and certificate of origin to be stamped and approved before the goods leave Dubai. We arrange it as part of the booking. Getting it done here is much easier than trying to fix it once the goods have sailed.
Do you deliver door to door?
Yes. We handle freight forwarding to Libya door to door. We collect the goods in Dubai, move them, clear them through customs, and bring them to your address. You deal with one company for the whole journey.
Can I send a small shipment, or do I need a full container?
You can send as little as one box or one pallet. We put small shipments from different customers into one shared container. This is called LCL, or less than container load. Your goods load at Jebel Ali and come into Tripoli. When you have more goods, you move up to your own full container, which is called FCL. We will tell you which one is cheaper.
Can you ship a car from Dubai to Libya?
Yes, in a container or on a roll-on roll-off vessel. Send us the make, model, year and chassis number and we will confirm the rules and the paperwork before you buy.
Can you ship generators and heavy equipment to Libya?
Yes, and it is a lot of what we move on this route. Generators, machinery and oversized items go in open top or flat rack containers, or loose on the ship. Send us the size and weight.
Do you check shipments before accepting them?
Yes. We check the goods and the buyer before we accept a booking. If there is a problem we tell you at the start rather than after your money is committed.
Do you handle customs clearance in Libya?
Yes, at both ends. We handle customs clearance in Dubai and customs clearance in Libya. You do not need to find your own clearing agent.
Can you collect the goods from my supplier in Dubai?
Yes. We collect anywhere in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE. We can also hold your goods in warehousing and storage in Dubai until you are ready to ship. That helps when you are buying from several suppliers and want everything to travel to Tripoli in one container.
Can you move my household goods to Libya?
Yes. We move full house moves and part loads to Libya, including Tripoli, Misrata and Benghazi. We pack, collect, move and deliver, and we handle the customs clearance so your things are not waiting on paperwork.
