There is no second Kenyan certificate to chase, which removes a category of mistake that catches people out on the West African routes. What does need watching is the customs position at Juba. It has changed sharply before, including a rule about which currency duty had to be paid in that left thousands of containers stuck before it was reversed. So we confirm the current position close to the time rather than assuming it works like the last shipment.

Do I need one tracking note or two?
One. When the goods come through Mombasa, the South Sudan note covers the whole journey and there is no separate Kenyan certificate. That is simpler than the West African routes, where the number depends on which port you use.
Is it true cargo has been stuck over duty payments?
Yes, and it is worth knowing rather than glossing over. A rule about which currency duty had to be paid in left thousands of containers held, including medicines and food, before it was reversed. We confirm the current position close to the time.
Is the road leg more expensive than the sea leg?
Several times over, routinely. It is two thousand kilometres of bonded road through two countries. Any quote that stops at Mombasa has priced a small fraction of the journey.
We are an aid organisation. Is our cargo exempt from duty?
Often yes, but the exemption is a process to complete rather than something that applies automatically. An assumed exemption means a held container. Tell us at the start if the receiver is an aid organisation and we will set out what is needed.
Do you deliver door to door?
Yes. We handle freight forwarding to South Sudan door to door. We collect the goods in Dubai, move them, clear them through customs, and bring them to your address. You deal with one company for the whole journey.
Can I send a small shipment, or do I need a full container?
You can send as little as one box or one pallet. We put small shipments from different customers into one shared container. This is called LCL, or less than container load. Your goods load at Jebel Ali and come into Mombasa, Kenya. When you have more goods, you move up to your own full container, which is called FCL. We will tell you which one is cheaper.
