Where can I find the truck ban timings in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah?
Each emirate publishes its own truck ban timings. In Dubai they come from the Roads and Transport Authority with Dubai Police. In Abu Dhabi they come from Abu Dhabi Mobility. In Sharjah they come from the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority. The timings change often, so always read the latest official notice, or ask us for the hours on your route.
The latest official truck ban notices, by emirate
These are the latest notices we found when we checked on 8 October 2026. Each link opens the authority's own page.
- Dubai: truck movement restrictions across Dubai from 1 October 2026, announced by the Roads and Transport Authority and Dubai Police on 26 September 2026
- Abu Dhabi: restricted movement hours for heavy vehicles, from Abu Dhabi Mobility, in effect from 27 January 2025
- Sharjah: extended truck restriction hours from 6 March 2026, and truck measures for the Emirates Road project from 23 June 2026, both from the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority
What the truck ban notices cover
The notices name the roads, the hours and the vehicles the rules apply to. Some roads are closed to trucks all day, some for long daytime hours, and some only at peak times. Hours can differ by day of the week, and they can change for Ramadan. That is why we always check the notice in force on the day of your move.
Permits to drive in banned hours
Some jobs cannot wait for the road to open. Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority issues a Mobility Permit for Heavy Vehicles in Banned Times and Roads, for essential cases only, through its website. Sharjah's roads authority offers an electronic truck permit service. Ask us which permit your move needs.
How to plan a delivery around the truck bans
- Check the whole route, not just the address: one restricted road in the middle can stop the trip
- Check the day as well as the time, because hours can differ by day
- Book collections from the port or warehouse for a time when the whole route is open
- Plan Ramadan deliveries separately, because the hours can change
- If the receiver unloads only in the daytime, ask about a night delivery to a nearby yard, then a short final drive
Navo Shipping is a shipping company in Dubai. Our UAE land transport team plans container and trailer moves around the rules in force at the time. Our guide to the types of trailers explains which truck suits your load. For trucks leaving the UAE, our guide to trucking from Dubai to Saudi Arabia covers the border.
This guide points to official rules in plain words. The authority's own notice is always the final word, and we confirm the rules for your shipment when you book.
Frequently asked questions
Why does this page link to the notices instead of listing the hours?
Because the hours change often, sometimes several times a year. The authority's own page always shows the rule in force, so linking to it means you never plan around an old timing.
Can a truck wait somewhere during a ban in Dubai?
Yes. The Roads and Transport Authority has built rest stops for trucks along main roads and in logistics areas, and asks drivers to use them during restricted hours.
