Shipping from Dubai
to Estonia.

We ship from Dubai and from anywhere in the UAE to Estonia by sea and by air. We carry business and personal cargo. The sea leg is long because everything relays in northern Europe, while the air leg is one of the quickest in the region. That gap is bigger here than almost anywhere, so it is worth deciding properly rather than by habit.

Overview

Sea and air freight
to Estonia.

Shipping from Dubai to Estonia takes about 36 to 56 days by sea, and 1 to 3 days by air. Those two numbers are not a mistake. Container cargo relays at least once in northern Europe before the Baltic leg, so current route planning puts Tallinn at around 36 days on an economical routing and one container model at around 55. Air, by contrast, can reach Tallinn in about a day. Muuga Harbour is the principal cargo harbour in the Port of Tallinn system and where containers actually arrive, with road and rail connections inland. Paldiski South Harbour handles containers, roll-on roll-off and vehicle traffic. Air cargo flies into Lennart Meri Tallinn. We deliver everywhere, including Tallinn, Tartu, Narva, Parnu, Kohtla-Jarve, Viljandi, Rakvere and Kuressaare. Navo Shipping handles the sea freight, air freight and customs clearance on the Dubai to Estonia route, door to door.

Ports and gateways

Sea ports and airports
we ship to from Dubai.

Every bill of lading carries two ports: where the cargo loads, and where it discharges. We load at Jebel Ali or another UAE port. Estonia has two sea ports we use and one airport. They suit different cargo and different inland legs, so the loading port and the discharge port are worth choosing separately.

  1. POLPort of loading

We collect anywhere in the UAE, free zones included, and load at whichever of these eight suits the cargo.

  2. PODPort of discharge

The right one is whichever leaves the shortest inland leg to your delivery address. On a long lane that leg is a shipment in its own right, so it is planned rather than assumed.

    • Muuga HarbourEEMUGSea port, Gulf of FinlandTallinn, Harju County and national Estonian container distribution
How cargo reaches Muuga Harbour Muuga is the principal cargo harbour in the Port of Tallinn system, and it is where containers actually arrive rather than at the city itself. It handles container traffic and has road and rail connections into the hinterland. Cargo from Dubai reaches it through one or more European transhipment hubs, which is where the long transit comes from. Sea freight is priced per container on a full load and per cubic metre on a shared one. Get a rate for Muuga Harbour
    • Paldiski South HarbourEEPLSSea port, Baltic SeaPaldiski, western Estonia and vehicle and roll-on roll-off distribution
How cargo reaches Paldiski South Harbour Paldiski South handles containers, roll-on roll-off and vehicle traffic. If you are moving a car or wheeled plant it is worth asking about specifically, because it is set up for that rather than for boxes. Routing from Dubai depends on the same European relay as Muuga. How cargo reaches Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport Air freight from Dubai to Tallinn is 1 to 3 days, and current flight routing can be under a day airport to airport. Before you ship

Import rules
for Estonia.

Estonia runs on the two EU rules and we handle both. Whoever imports needs an EORI number, which is free, quick to obtain and required before any customs operation. And a safety filing called an Entry Summary Declaration has to reach EU customs before the goods arrive, under the system known as ICS2. The carrier files it and we supply the data. On a sea shipment here the paperwork is never the constraint, because the cargo is in transit for more than a month. On an air shipment it can be, since the goods may land within a day or two of leaving, so we get the details right at booking rather than afterwards. If you are moving to Estonia, the transfer of residence relief covers private cars as well as household goods. Tell us what you are sending and we will confirm what applies.

Documentation

Documents you need
for Estonia.

These 11 cover most shipments to Estonia. The exact list depends on the commodity and its HS code, so send us both and we confirm what applies before the cargo is booked.

  • 01Invoice showing what you paid for the goods
  • 02Packing list showing what is inside
  • 03Certificate of origin showing where the goods were made
  • 04Bill of lading or air waybill, which is the shipping ticket
  • 05Dubai export paper, which we do for you
  • 06EORI number of the importer in Estonia
  • 07EU customs import declaration
  • 08ICS2 Entry Summary Declaration data, filed before arrival
  • 09Import licence or product approval, where the commodity is controlled
  • 10Sanitary, veterinary, plant health or conformity certificate, where required
  • 11Proof of origin, where you are claiming preferential duty

Get the paperwork right in Dubai and clearance at destination is routine. Fixing a document after arrival is slow, and storage accrues the whole time it takes.

How it works

Dubai to Estonia
shipping, step by step.

Send the cargo details: what it is, where it is going, rough weight and dimensions. We come back with the routes that suit it, sea against air, and a written rate with a validity date on it. You pick one, we book it, and one coordinator stays with the shipment until it is delivered in Estonia.

Questions

Cargo to Estonia
questions, answered.

The 15 we are asked most on the Dubai to Estonia route. If yours is not here, send it with the commodity and we will answer it directly.

Do you offer movers and packers for a house move from Dubai to Estonia?

Yes. Our movers and packers do the packing, wrapping and listing, then we ship your furniture and household goods in a full container, or share one if you have less to send. The item by item list matters, because customs clear personal effects against it. Fuel, gas cylinders, paint, aerosols and loose batteries cannot travel, and we give you the full list before packing day.

How long does shipping from Dubai to Estonia take?

Sea freight to Estonia takes about 36 to 56 days, and air freight to Estonia takes 1 to 3 days. Container cargo relays at least once in northern Europe before the Baltic leg, which is where the time goes. Current planning puts Tallinn at around 36 days and one container model at around 55. We give you a date in writing when we quote.

Why is air so much faster on this lane?

Because the sea route is unusually indirect. Nothing sails through to the far Baltic, so containers are worked at a northern European hub and wait for the onward leg. Air goes more or less straight there, and current flight routing can be under a day. That gap, one day against several weeks, is wider than on almost any lane we run.

Which port do containers actually arrive at?

Muuga Harbour, not Tallinn itself. Muuga is the principal cargo harbour in the Port of Tallinn system and has the road and rail connections inland. Paldiski South Harbour handles containers, roll-on roll-off and vehicle traffic. Pages that just say Tallinn are being vague about something that matters on the paperwork.

How much does shipping from Dubai to Estonia cost?

It depends on what you send, how big it is, and where in Estonia it is going. We do not publish prices because every shipment is different. Sea freight to Estonia is priced per container when you fill one, and per cubic metre when you share one. Air freight to Estonia is priced on weight or size, whichever is greater. Send us the details and we send you a price in writing, usually the same day.

Which cities in Estonia do you deliver to?

All of them. Tallinn, Tartu, Narva, Parnu, Kohtla-Jarve, Viljandi, Maardu, Rakvere, Kuressaare, Sillamae, Valga, Voru, Johvi, Haapsalu and Paide. Just give us the address and we bring it to the door.

What is an EORI number?

It is a free trading number used across the European Union. Whoever imports the goods needs one and no customs operation happens without it. It is quick to get online, and we check it before we load.

What is ICS2?

It is the EU safety and security system. A filing called an Entry Summary Declaration has to reach EU customs before your goods arrive. The carrier files it and we supply the data. On an air shipment here that deadline comes round quickly, since the goods can land within a day or two of leaving.

Do you deliver door to door?

Yes. We handle freight forwarding to Estonia door to door. We collect the goods in Dubai, move them, clear them through customs, and bring them to your address. You deal with one company for the whole journey.

Can I send a small shipment, or do I need a full container?

You can send as little as one box or one pallet. We put small shipments from different customers into one shared container. This is called LCL, or less than container load. Your goods load at Jebel Ali and come into Muuga Harbour. When you have more goods, you move up to your own full container, which is called FCL. On a lane this long a shared container waits longer for consolidation, so we will tell you honestly which is better.

Can you ship a car from Dubai to Estonia?

Yes. A vehicle bought in a non-EU country has to be declared to customs, and you also need the documentation for Estonian registration and technical approval. Paldiski South Harbour is set up for vehicle and roll-on roll-off traffic specifically. We could not confirm any blanket maximum age. Send us the make, model, year and chassis number and we will check before you buy.

Do you handle customs clearance in Estonia?

Yes, at both ends. We handle customs clearance in Dubai and customs clearance in Estonia. You do not need to find your own clearing agent.

Can you collect the goods from my supplier in Dubai?

Yes. We collect anywhere in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE. We can also hold your goods in warehousing and storage in Dubai until you are ready to ship. On a lane this long, getting the consolidation right before anything sails matters more than usual.

Can you ship machinery and heavy equipment to Estonia?

Yes. We move project cargo to Estonia as well. Big, heavy items go in open top or flat rack containers, or loose on the ship. Muuga has the road and rail connections to move heavy pieces inland. Send us the size and weight and we will work out the best way to move it.

I am moving to Estonia. Do I get relief on my belongings?

You may. Estonia allows qualifying personal property to come in without import duty when you transfer residence from outside the EU, normally requiring at least twelve continuous months of residence outside the EU and at least six months of prior possession of the goods. Private cars, motorcycles, caravans and pleasure craft can qualify. Tell us your situation and we will explain what to expect.
