Shipping from Dubai
to Finland.

We ship from Dubai and from anywhere in the UAE to Finland by sea and by air. We carry business and personal cargo. Finland sits at the far end of the Baltic, so container cargo transfers in northern Europe before it gets there. We say what that actually costs in time, and put air on the table alongside it.

Overview

Sea and air freight
to Finland.

Shipping from Dubai to Finland takes about 25 to 49 days by sea, and 2 to 7 days by air. Commercial lane information gives around 25 to 35 days to Helsinki and 26 to 36 days to Kotka, while other current route planning can approach 49 days with transhipments. Finland sits at the far end of the Baltic, so cargo from Dubai transfers in northern Europe rather than sailing through. Helsinki is the major cargo gateway for the south. Kotka serves the south east and the inland industrial areas and is an important container and forest-products port. Turku is a regional cargo and roll-on roll-off gateway. Air cargo flies into Helsinki. We deliver everywhere, including Helsinki, Espoo, Tampere, Vantaa, Oulu, Turku, Jyvaskyla, Kuopio, Lahti and Rovaniemi. Navo Shipping handles the sea freight, air freight and customs clearance on the Dubai to Finland route, door to door. Tell us what you are sending and how urgent it is.

Ports and gateways

Sea ports and airports
we ship to from Dubai.

Every bill of lading carries two ports: where the cargo loads, and where it discharges. We load at Jebel Ali or another UAE port. Finland has three sea ports we use and one airport. They suit different cargo and different inland legs, so the loading port and the discharge port are worth choosing separately.

  1. POLPort of loading

We collect anywhere in the UAE, free zones included, and load at whichever of these eight suits the cargo.

  2. PODPort of discharge

The right one is whichever leaves the shortest inland leg to your delivery address. On a long lane that leg is a shipment in its own right, so it is planned rather than assumed.

How cargo reaches Port of Helsinki Shipping from Dubai to Helsinki takes about 25 to 35 days on commercial lane estimates, because container cargo transfers in northern Europe before the Baltic leg. It is the major Finnish cargo gateway and covers the populated south. Sea freight is priced per container on a full load and per cubic metre on a shared one. Get a rate for Port of Helsinki
    • Port of KotkaFIKTKSea port, Gulf of FinlandKotka, south-eastern Finland and the inland industrial areas
How cargo reaches Port of Kotka Kotka is an important container and forest-products gateway east of Helsinki, and commercial estimates put it at around 26 to 36 days from Dubai. For cargo going to the south east or inland to the industrial belt it can save a road leg, and it is geared to handling volume rather than city traffic. Get a rate for Port of Kotka
    • Port of TurkuFITKUSea port, Baltic SeaTurku and south-western Finland
How cargo reaches Port of Turku Shipping from Dubai to Turku arrives on a Baltic feeder or roll on roll off connection rather than a direct deep sea call. It faces Sweden across the archipelago and suits roll on roll off and project pieces more than boxes. That second leg sets the timing, so we confirm the days when we quote. Helsinki is the alternative for containers. The quote separates ocean freight, transshipment, the feeder leg, terminal handling, customs, import VAT and delivery. Get a rate for Port of Turku

How cargo reaches Helsinki Airport Air freight from Dubai to Helsinki Airport can use accepted belly or freighter capacity, with the routing confirmed live, subject to commodity, space, screening and local cargo handling approval. It is Finland's main air cargo gateway, and winter conditions can add handling time on the ground. Times vary from flight to flight, so we confirm the days when we quote. Before you ship

Import rules
for Finland.

Finland runs on the two EU rules and we handle both. Whoever imports needs an EORI number, which is free, quick to obtain and required before any customs operation. And a safety filing called an Entry Summary Declaration has to reach EU customs before the goods arrive, under the system known as ICS2. The carrier files it and we supply the data. Vehicles are where Finland catches people out, because the job splits into three: customs clearance first, then a car tax return where it applies, then a registration inspection and registration. Each is a separate process with its own timing, and clearing customs is only the first of them. If you are moving to Finland, the removal-goods relief has its own conditions on top. Tell us what you are sending and we will set out the full sequence before you book.

Documentation

Documents you need
for Finland.

These 11 cover most shipments to Finland. The exact list depends on the commodity and its HS code, so send us both and we confirm what applies before the cargo is booked.

  • 01Invoice showing what you paid for the goods
  • 02Packing list showing what is inside
  • 03Certificate of origin showing where the goods were made
  • 04Bill of lading or air waybill, which is the shipping ticket
  • 05Dubai export paper, which we do for you
  • 06EORI number of the importer in Finland
  • 07EU customs declaration
  • 08ICS2 Entry Summary Declaration data, filed before arrival
  • 09Import permit or product certificate, where the commodity is controlled
  • 10Sanitary, veterinary or plant health document, where required
  • 11Proof of origin, where you are claiming preferential duty

Get the paperwork right in Dubai and clearance at destination is routine. Fixing a document after arrival is slow, and storage accrues the whole time it takes.

Questions

Cargo to Finland
questions, answered.

The 15 we are asked most on the Dubai to Finland route. If yours is not here, send it with the commodity and we will answer it directly.

How long does shipping from Dubai to Finland take?

Sea freight to Finland takes about 25 to 49 days, and air freight to Finland takes 2 to 7 days. Commercial lane information gives around 25 to 35 days to Helsinki and 26 to 36 to Kotka, though a transhipment-heavy routing can approach 49. Finland sits at the far end of the Baltic and cargo transfers in northern Europe on the way. We give you a date in writing when we quote.

How much does shipping from Dubai to Finland cost?

It depends on what you send, how big it is, and where in Finland it is going. We do not publish prices because every shipment is different. Sea freight to Finland is priced per container when you fill one, and per cubic metre when you share one. Air freight to Finland is priced on weight or size, whichever is greater. Send us the details and we send you a price in writing, usually the same day.

Which cities in Finland do you deliver to?

All of them. Helsinki, Espoo, Tampere, Vantaa, Oulu, Turku, Jyvaskyla, Kuopio, Lahti, Pori, Kouvola, Joensuu, Lappeenranta, Hameenlinna, Vaasa and Rovaniemi. Just give us the address and we bring it to the door.

Which ports in Finland do you ship to?

Helsinki is the major cargo gateway for the south. Kotka serves the south east and the inland industrial areas and is an important container and forest-products port. Turku is a regional cargo and roll-on roll-off gateway. For air cargo we fly into Helsinki.

Helsinki or Kotka, which is better?

Helsinki for the capital region and the populated south. Kotka if the delivery is in the south east or inland to the industrial belt, because it saves a road leg and it is geared to handling volume rather than city traffic. Tell us the delivery town and we will pick.

Why does the sea leg take so long?

Because nothing sails through to the far Baltic from Dubai. Cargo transfers in northern Europe and waits for the onward leg, and how it is connected is what decides whether you are looking at four weeks or seven. That is why we confirm the routing before quoting rather than publishing one number.

Can you deliver to Lapland and the north?

Yes. Oulu, Rovaniemi and the north are reached by a long road leg from Helsinki, or by domestic air connection for urgent cargo. That leg is worth quoting separately because on a country this shape it is a real part of the journey. Tell us the town and we will price both ways.

What is an EORI number?

It is a free trading number used across the European Union. Whoever imports the goods needs one and no customs operation happens without it. It is quick to get online, and we check it before we load.

What is ICS2?

It is the EU safety and security system. A filing called an Entry Summary Declaration has to reach EU customs before your goods arrive. The carrier files it and we supply the data.

Do you deliver door to door?

Yes. We handle freight forwarding to Finland door to door. We collect the goods in Dubai, move them, clear them through customs, and bring them to your address. You deal with one company for the whole journey.

Can I send a small shipment, or do I need a full container?

You can send as little as one box or one pallet. We put small shipments from different customers into one shared container. This is called LCL, or less than container load. Your goods load at Jebel Ali and come into Helsinki. When you have more goods, you move up to your own full container, which is called FCL. We will tell you which one is cheaper.

Can you ship a car from Dubai to Finland?

Yes, and it is worth understanding that it is three jobs rather than one. Customs clearance comes first, then a car tax return where it applies, then a registration inspection and registration. Each has its own timing. Clearing customs is only the first step, not the point where you can drive it. Send us the make, model, year and chassis number and we will set out the sequence.

Do you handle customs clearance in Finland?

Yes, at both ends. We handle customs clearance in Dubai and customs clearance in Finland. You do not need to find your own clearing agent.

Can you collect the goods from my supplier in Dubai?

Yes. We collect anywhere in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE. We can also hold your goods in warehousing and storage in Dubai until you are ready to ship. On a lane this long, consolidating properly before anything sails is worth the effort.

I am moving to Finland. Do I get relief on my belongings?

You may. Removal goods are generally eligible for customs relief when the conditions are met. Finnish guidance indicates relief can be lost if you lived outside the EU for less than twelve months, if durable goods were used for less than six months, or if the goods arrive outside the permitted relocation period. That last one catches people whose shipment is slow, which on this lane is a real risk worth planning around. Tell us your dates and we will work back from them.
