Overview
Sea and air freight
to Greece.
Shipping from Dubai to Greece takes about 11 to 20 days by sea, and 1 to 4 days by air. Current schedules have shown Jebel Ali to Piraeus at around 11 days port to port, which makes it the quickest European Union gateway on our network. Allow closer to 17 days door to door once handling and the road leg are counted. Piraeus serves Athens and national distribution. Thessaloniki serves Macedonia, northern Greece and the corridors up into the Balkans. Air cargo flies into Athens International, or Thessaloniki for the north. We deliver everywhere, including Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, Heraklion, Larissa, Volos, Ioannina, Chania, Alexandroupoli, Kavala, Kalamata and Rhodes. Navo Shipping handles the sea freight, air freight and customs clearance on the Dubai to Greece route, door to door. Ports and gateways
Sea ports and airports
we ship to from Dubai.
Every bill of lading carries two ports: where the cargo loads, and where it discharges. We load at Jebel Ali or another UAE port. Greece has two sea ports we use and two airports. They suit different cargo and different inland legs, so the loading port and the discharge port are worth choosing separately.
POLPort of loading
We collect anywhere in the UAE, free zones included, and load at whichever of these eight suits the cargo.

PODPort of discharge
The right one is whichever leaves the shortest inland leg to your delivery address. On a long lane that leg is a shipment in its own right, so it is planned rather than assumed.

How cargo reaches Port of Piraeus
Shipping from Dubai to Piraeus is the quickest sailing into the European Union on our network. Current public schedules have shown around 11 days port to port from Jebel Ali. Piraeus sits at the eastern end of the Mediterranean, so a service coming through Suez reaches it before any other major European port. Sea freight is priced per container on a full load and per cubic metre on a shared one. It is also worth considering when the goods are going on somewhere else in Europe afterwards. How cargo reaches Port of Thessaloniki
Shipping from Dubai to Thessaloniki can use a confirmed suitable vessel booking, usually relayed through a Mediterranean hub. It is the natural gateway for northern Greece and the Balkans, so cargo bound inland often clears here. Times vary from ship to ship, so we confirm the days when we quote. Piraeus is the alternative and carries more services. The quote separates ocean freight, transshipment, terminal handling, customs, import VAT and final delivery. How cargo reaches Athens International Airport
Air freight from Dubai to Athens International can use accepted belly or freighter capacity, with the routing confirmed live, subject to commodity, space, screening and local cargo handling approval. It handles most of Greece's air cargo and sits near Piraeus, which helps when a shipment splits between air and sea. Times vary from flight to flight, so we confirm the days when we quote. Thessaloniki is the alternative. The quote separates uplift, connection, screening, terminal, customs, import VAT and final delivery. How cargo reaches Thessaloniki Airport
Air freight from Dubai to Thessaloniki connects through a European or Gulf hub, subject to commodity, space, screening and local cargo handling approval. It serves northern Greece and saves the road run up from Athens, though capacity is smaller. Times vary from flight to flight, so we confirm the days when we quote. Athens International is the alternative for anything large. The quote separates uplift, connection, screening, terminal, customs, import VAT and final delivery. Get a rate for Thessaloniki Airport

Before you ship
Import rules
for Greece.
Greece runs on the two EU rules and we handle both. Whoever imports needs an EORI number, which is free and quick to get, and nothing clears without it. And a safety filing called an Entry Summary Declaration has to reach EU customs before the goods arrive, under the system known as ICS2. The carrier files it and we supply the data. There is one Greek rule worth flagging separately because it catches people out and it is nothing to do with commercial cargo. If you are moving to Greece and bringing a car, older vehicles are excluded: Greek guidance states that Euro 1, Euro 2 and Euro 3 cars, and conventional-technology cars without proven emissions, cannot be imported and registered under the transfer of residence rules. Check the emissions standard before you buy the car. Tell us what you are sending and we will confirm the rest.

Documentation
Documents you need
for Greece.
These 11 cover most shipments to Greece. The exact list depends on the commodity and its HS code, so send us both and we confirm what applies before the cargo is booked.
- 01Invoice showing what you paid for the goods
- 02Packing list showing what is inside
- 03Certificate of origin showing where the goods were made
- 04Bill of lading or air waybill, which is the shipping ticket
- 05Dubai export paper, which we do for you
- 06EORI number of the importer in Greece
- 07EU customs import declaration
- 08ICS2 Entry Summary Declaration data, filed before arrival
- 09Import licence, where the commodity is controlled
- 10Health, veterinary, plant health or conformity document, where the product needs one
- 11Proof of origin, where you are claiming preferential duty
Get the paperwork right in Dubai and clearance at destination is routine. Fixing a document after arrival is slow, and storage accrues the whole time it takes.

Questions
Cargo to Greece
questions, answered.
The 16 we are asked most on the Dubai to Greece route. If yours is not here, send it with the commodity and we will answer it directly.
Do you offer movers and packers for a house move from Dubai to Greece?
Yes. Our movers and packers do the packing, wrapping and listing, then we ship your furniture and household goods in a full container, or share one if you have less to send. The item by item list matters, because customs clear personal effects against it. Fuel, gas cylinders, paint, aerosols and loose batteries cannot travel, and we give you the full list before packing day.
How long does shipping from Dubai to Greece take?
Sea freight to Greece takes about 11 to 20 days, and air freight to Greece takes 1 to 4 days. Current schedules have shown Jebel Ali to Piraeus at around 11 days port to port, which is the quickest European Union arrival we run. Door to door is closer to 17 days once handling and delivery are counted. We give you a date in writing when we quote.
Is Greece really the fastest route into Europe?
On current schedules, yes. Piraeus sits at the eastern end of the Mediterranean, so a ship coming through the Suez Canal reaches it before any other major European port. If your cargo is going on elsewhere in Europe, landing at Piraeus can put it inside the European Union a week earlier than a western port would.
How much does shipping from Dubai to Greece cost?
It depends on what you send, how big it is, and where in Greece it is going. We do not publish prices because every shipment is different. Sea freight to Greece is priced per container when you fill one, and per cubic metre when you share one. Air freight to Greece is priced on weight or size, whichever is greater. Send us the details and we send you a price in writing, usually the same day.
Which cities in Greece do you deliver to?
All of them. Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, Heraklion, Larissa, Volos, Ioannina, Chania, Alexandroupoli, Kavala, Kalamata, Serres, Rhodes and Corinth. Just give us the address and we bring it to the door.
Which ports in Greece do you ship to?
Piraeus is the primary gateway, serving Athens and national distribution, and it is the quicker of the two from Jebel Ali. Thessaloniki serves Macedonia, northern Greece and the corridors into the Balkans. For air cargo we fly into Athens International or Thessaloniki.
Can you deliver to the Greek islands?
Yes. Crete, Rhodes and the rest are reached by a sea leg after Piraeus, and that leg has its own schedule and its own cost. Tell us the island and we will price the whole journey rather than just the mainland part.
What is an EORI number?
It is a free trading number used across the European Union. Whoever imports the goods needs one and nothing clears without it. It is quick to get online, and we check it before we load.
What is ICS2?
It is the EU safety and security system. A filing called an Entry Summary Declaration has to reach EU customs before your goods arrive, not when they land. The carrier files it and we supply the data.
Do you deliver door to door?
Yes. We handle freight forwarding to Greece door to door. We collect the goods in Dubai, move them, clear them through customs, and bring them to your address. You deal with one company for the whole journey.
Can I send a small shipment, or do I need a full container?
You can send as little as one box or one pallet. We put small shipments from different customers into one shared container. This is called LCL, or less than container load. Your goods load at Jebel Ali and come into Piraeus. When you have more goods, you move up to your own full container, which is called FCL. We will tell you which one is cheaper.
Can you ship a car from Dubai to Greece?
Yes, but check the emissions standard before you buy. Greek guidance states that Euro 1, Euro 2 and Euro 3 cars, and conventional-technology cars without proven pollutant emissions, cannot be imported and registered under the transfer of residence rules. That catches a lot of older vehicles. Send us the make, model, year and emissions standard and we will tell you where you stand.
Do you handle customs clearance in Greece?
Yes, at both ends. We handle customs clearance in Dubai and customs clearance in Greece. You do not need to find your own clearing agent.
Can you collect the goods from my supplier in Dubai?
Yes. We collect anywhere in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE. We can also hold your goods in warehousing and storage in Dubai until you are ready to ship. That helps when you are buying from several suppliers and want everything to travel to Piraeus in one container.
Can you ship machinery and heavy equipment to Greece?
Yes. We move project cargo to Greece as well. Big, heavy items go in open top or flat rack containers, or loose on the ship. Send us the size and weight and we will work out the best way to move it.
I am moving back to Greece. Do I get relief on my belongings?
You may, and the Greek rule is stricter than most of the EU on one point. Greek guidance currently requires that you have kept your habitual abode abroad for at least two years, rather than the twelve months several other member states ask for. Household goods and one qualifying passenger car can be included, subject to the emissions rule above. Tell us how long you have been away and we will explain what to expect.
