Shipping from Dubai
to Italy.

We ship from Dubai and from anywhere in the UAE to Italy by sea and by air. Italy is long, and the four main ports serve genuinely different halves of it, so the gateway decides how far your goods travel afterwards. We ship business and personal cargo, handle the EU paperwork, and deliver to your address.

Overview

Sea and air freight
to Italy.

Shipping from Dubai to Italy takes about 16 to 32 days by sea, and 1 to 4 days by air. That sea range is wide for a real reason: a service going through the Suez Canal runs at the quick end, while a service routed around the Cape of Good Hope has been published at 32 days. Genoa is the main north-western gateway for Milan, Turin and Lombardy. La Spezia serves the north and centre, including Parma, Bologna and Tuscany. Trieste on the Adriatic serves the north east and the rail corridors into Central Europe. Naples serves Campania and the south. Air cargo flies into Milan Malpensa for the north and Rome Fiumicino for the centre. We deliver everywhere, including Rome, Milan, Naples, Turin, Palermo, Genoa, Bologna, Florence, Bari, Catania, Venice and Verona. Navo Shipping handles the sea freight, air freight and customs clearance on the Dubai to Italy route, door to door. Tell us what you are sending and where it is going, and we will confirm the routing that is actually running.

Ports and gateways

Sea ports and airports
we ship to from Dubai.

Every bill of lading carries two ports: where the cargo loads, and where it discharges. We load at Jebel Ali or another UAE port. Italy has four sea ports we use and two airports. They suit different cargo and different inland legs, so the loading port and the discharge port are worth choosing separately.

  1. POLPort of loading

We collect anywhere in the UAE, free zones included, and load at whichever of these eight suits the cargo.

  2. PODPort of discharge

The right one is whichever leaves the shortest inland leg to your delivery address. On a long lane that leg is a shipment in its own right, so it is planned rather than assumed.

    • Port of GenoaITGOASea port, Ligurian SeaGenoa, Milan, Turin, Lombardy, Piedmont and north-western Italy
How cargo reaches Port of Genoa Shipping from Dubai to Genoa is the default for northern Italy, and the transit depends almost entirely on the routing. Through the Suez Canal it sits at the quick end of the range. Around the Cape of Good Hope a major carrier has published 32 days. Genoa is the primary north-western container gateway and the shortest road leg for Milan and Turin. Sea freight is priced per container on a full load and per cubic metre on a shared one. • Port of La SpeziaITSPESea port, Ligurian SeaNorthern and central Italy, including Milan, Parma, Bologna and Tuscany
How cargo reaches Port of La Spezia Shipping from Dubai to La Spezia can use a confirmed suitable vessel booking, and its rail links carry a high share of boxes inland, so cargo for Milan and the north often moves on from here by train rather than truck. Times vary from ship to ship, so we confirm the days when we quote. Genoa is the alternative. The quote separates ocean freight, transshipment, terminal handling, rail or road transfer, customs, import VAT and final delivery. Get a rate for Port of La Spezia
    • Port of TriesteITTRSSea port, Adriatic SeaNorth-eastern Italy, Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the inland Central European corridors
How cargo reaches Port of Trieste Shipping from Dubai to Trieste can use a confirmed suitable vessel booking. It is the closest Italian port to central and eastern Europe, and its free port status lets goods be held before duty is paid, which suits onward distribution. Times vary from ship to ship, so we confirm the days when we quote. La Spezia is the alternative for the west. The quote separates ocean freight, transshipment, terminal handling, free port storage, customs, import VAT and delivery. Get a rate for Port of Trieste

How cargo reaches Port of Naples Shipping from Dubai to Naples can use a confirmed suitable vessel booking. It serves Campania and the south directly, which avoids the long road run down from the Ligurian ports. Times vary from ship to ship, so we confirm the days when we quote. Genoa is the alternative for the north and for wider service choice. The quote separates ocean freight, transshipment, carrier surcharges, terminal handling, customs, import VAT and final delivery. How cargo reaches Milan Malpensa Airport Air freight from Dubai to Malpensa can use accepted belly or freighter capacity, with the routing confirmed live, subject to commodity, space, screening and local cargo handling approval. It is Italy's largest air cargo gateway and serves the industrial north, so uplift is rarely the constraint. Times vary from flight to flight, so we confirm the days when we quote. Fiumicino is the alternative for the centre. The quote separates uplift, connection, screening, terminal, customs, import VAT and final delivery. Get a rate for Milan Malpensa Airport

Before you ship

Import rules
for Italy.

Italy runs on the two EU rules, and we handle both. First, whoever imports needs an EORI number. It is a free trading number, quick to get, but no customs operation happens without it, so we check it before we book. Second, a safety filing called an Entry Summary Declaration has to reach EU customs before the goods arrive, under the system known as ICS2. The carrier files it, and we supply the data. On this lane the timing is worth watching more closely than most, because routing has moved about during 2026 and an arrival date that shifts by a week changes when that filing is due. Beyond those two, regulated goods need their own licence or certificate, and preferential duty needs proof of origin. Tell us the product and the HS code and we will confirm what applies before you book.

Documentation

Documents you need
for Italy.

These 11 cover most shipments to Italy. The exact list depends on the commodity and its HS code, so send us both and we confirm what applies before the cargo is booked.

  • 01Invoice showing what you paid for the goods
  • 02Packing list showing what is inside
  • 03Certificate of origin showing where the goods were made
  • 04Bill of lading or air waybill, which is the shipping ticket
  • 05Dubai export paper, which we do for you
  • 06EORI number of the importer in Italy
  • 07EU customs import declaration
  • 08ICS2 Entry Summary Declaration data, filed before arrival
  • 09Import licence, where the commodity is controlled
  • 10Conformity, sanitary, veterinary or plant health certificate, where the product needs one
  • 11Proof of origin, where you are claiming preferential duty

Get the paperwork right in Dubai and clearance at destination is routine. Fixing a document after arrival is slow, and storage accrues the whole time it takes.

Questions

Cargo to Italy
questions, answered.

The 16 we are asked most on the Dubai to Italy route. If yours is not here, send it with the commodity and we will answer it directly.

Do you offer movers and packers for a house move from Dubai to Italy?

Yes. Our movers and packers do the packing, wrapping and listing in Dubai, then we ship your furniture and household goods in a full container, or share one if you have less to send. The item by item list matters, because customs clear personal effects against it. Fuel, gas cylinders, paint, aerosols and loose batteries cannot travel, and we give you the full list before packing day.

How long does shipping from Dubai to Italy take?

Sea freight to Italy takes about 16 to 32 days, and air freight to Italy takes 1 to 4 days. The sea range is wide because a service through the Suez Canal is much quicker than one routed around the Cape of Good Hope, which a major carrier has published at 32 days. We confirm the live routing and give you a date in writing when we quote.

How much does shipping from Dubai to Italy cost?

It depends on what you send, how big it is, and where in Italy it is going. We do not publish prices because every shipment is different. Sea freight to Italy is priced per container when you fill one, and per cubic metre when you share one. Air freight to Italy is priced on weight or size, whichever is greater. Send us the details and we send you a price in writing, usually the same day.

Which cities in Italy do you deliver to?

All of them. Rome, Milan, Naples, Turin, Palermo, Genoa, Bologna, Florence, Bari, Catania, Venice, Verona, Padua, Trieste, Parma and Brescia. Just give us the address and we bring it to the door.

Which ports in Italy do you ship to?

Genoa for Milan, Turin and the north west. La Spezia for the north and centre, including Parma, Bologna and Tuscany. Trieste for the north east and the corridors into Central Europe. Naples for Campania and the south. For air cargo we fly into Milan Malpensa or Rome Fiumicino.

Which Italian port should my cargo go to?

Whichever is nearest the delivery address, because Italy is long and domestic trucking is a real cost. Genoa or La Spezia for the north, Trieste for the north east, Naples for the south. Tell us the delivery town and we will pick.

What is an EORI number?

It is a free trading number used across the European Union. Whoever imports the goods needs one, and no customs operation happens without it. It is quick to get online, and we check it before we load rather than after.

What is ICS2?

It is the EU safety and security system. A filing called an Entry Summary Declaration has to reach EU customs before your goods arrive, not when they land. The carrier files it and we supply the data. Because routing on this lane has moved about, we watch the arrival date closely so the filing timing stays right.

Do you deliver door to door?

Yes. We handle freight forwarding to Italy door to door. We collect the goods in Dubai, move them, clear them through customs, and bring them to your address. You deal with one company for the whole journey.

Can I send a small shipment, or do I need a full container?

You can send as little as one box or one pallet. We put small shipments from different customers into one shared container. This is called LCL, or less than container load. Your goods load at Jebel Ali and come into Genoa. When you have more goods, you move up to your own full container, which is called FCL. We will tell you which one is cheaper.

Can you ship a car from Dubai to Italy?

Yes. We do car shipping to Italy, and used vehicles can be brought in from outside the EU subject to customs, tax, technical conformity and Italian registration. We could not confirm any blanket maximum age. Send us the make, model, year and chassis number and we will check before you buy.

Do you handle customs clearance in Italy?

Yes, at both ends. We handle customs clearance in Dubai and customs clearance in Italy. You do not need to find your own clearing agent.

Can you collect the goods from my supplier in Dubai?

Yes. We collect anywhere in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE. We can also hold your goods in warehousing and storage in Dubai until you are ready to ship. That helps when you are buying from several suppliers and want everything to travel to Genoa in one container.

Can you ship machinery and heavy equipment to Italy?

Yes. We move project cargo to Italy as well. Big, heavy items go in open top or flat rack containers, or loose on the ship. Genoa, Trieste and Naples all handle general and heavy cargo. Send us the size and weight and we will work out the best way to move it.

Can you move my household goods to Italy?

Yes. We move full house moves and part loads to Italy, including Rome, Milan and Naples. We pack, collect, move and deliver, and we handle the customs clearance so your things are not waiting on paperwork.

I am moving to Italy. Do I get relief on my belongings?

You may. Italian customs allow duty and VAT relief on personal property for people transferring residence from outside the EU. The usual conditions are that you have lived outside the EU for at least twelve consecutive months, and that the goods, including a qualifying vehicle, have been owned and used for at least six months before the move. The six month rule catches people who buy furniture just before leaving. Tell us your situation and we will explain what to expect.
