Yes. It is a French overseas department and part of the EU, so the EU tariff applies, the safety filing is needed before loading, and products under EU rules need CE marking. Your buyer needs an EORI number. It is an EU import that happens to be in the Indian Ocean.

A dock tax specific to the French overseas departments, charged on the landed value with a regional surcharge alongside it. It has existed for centuries and its purpose is to protect local producers, so it sits on top of the normal EU duty.

Effectively there are two layers, yes. EU customs duty on your product, then the dock tax and its surcharge. That is the main reason a landed cost worked out from a mainland French quote will be too low.

Because the dock tax is deliberately shaped by whether something similar is made on the island. Two products with the same EU tariff heading can land at quite different costs, so it is worth checking your specific product rather than assuming.

A lot. The CE marking and the EU paperwork you already have carry across, so most of the compliance work is done. What is left is the dock tax and the island shipping schedule, which makes Réunion easier than its Indian Ocean neighbours.

Yes, at both ends. We handle customs clearance in Dubai and customs clearance in Réunion. You do not need to find your own clearing agent.

Yes. We collect anywhere in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE. We can also hold your goods in warehousing and storage in Dubai until you are ready to ship. That helps when you are buying from several suppliers and want everything to travel to Port Réunion in one container.

Yes. We move project cargo to Réunion as well. Big, heavy items go in open top or flat rack containers, or loose on the ship into Port Réunion. Send us the size and weight and we will work out the best way to move it.
