Shipping from Dubai
to Sweden.

We ship from Dubai and from anywhere in the UAE to Sweden by sea and by air. Like the rest of Scandinavia, the sea leg is long because nothing runs direct, so we tell you that first and let you decide rather than quoting a number that will not hold. We ship business and personal cargo.

Overview

Sea and air freight
to Sweden.

Shipping from Dubai to Sweden takes about 35 to 55 days by sea, and 2 to 7 days by air. There is no direct service, so cargo transfers in northern Europe and waits for the onward leg: current route planning puts Stockholm at around 36 days with transhipments and one Jebel Ali to Gothenburg model at around 55. Gothenburg is Sweden’s main container gateway, on the west coast. Stockholm serves the capital and the east. Helsingborg is an important regional port in the south. Air cargo flies into Stockholm Arlanda or Gothenburg Landvetter. We deliver everywhere, including Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmo, Uppsala, Vasteras, Orebro, Linkoping, Helsingborg, Jonkoping and Umea. Navo Shipping handles the sea freight, air freight and customs clearance on the Dubai to Sweden route, door to door. Tell us the cargo and how urgent it is, and we will lay out the honest options.

Ports and gateways

Sea ports and airports
we ship to from Dubai.

Every bill of lading carries two ports: where the cargo loads, and where it discharges. We load at Jebel Ali or another UAE port. Sweden has three sea ports we use and two airports. They suit different cargo and different inland legs, so the loading port and the discharge port are worth choosing separately.

  1. POLPort of loading

We collect anywhere in the UAE, free zones included, and load at whichever of these eight suits the cargo.

    • Port of FujairahAEFJR

  2. PODPort of discharge

The right one is whichever leaves the shortest inland leg to your delivery address. On a long lane that leg is a shipment in its own right, so it is planned rather than assumed.

    • Port of GothenburgSEGOTSea port, KattegatGothenburg, western Sweden and national container distribution
How cargo reaches Port of Gothenburg Gothenburg is Sweden’s main container gateway and handles the largest share of the country’s box traffic. Cargo from Dubai reaches it through northern European transhipment, and one current route model runs to about 55 days, so it is not a lane to plan tightly around. Sea freight is priced per container on a full load and per cubic metre on a shared one. Get a rate for Port of Gothenburg
    • Port of StockholmSESTOSea port, Baltic SeaStockholm and eastern Sweden
How cargo reaches Port of Stockholm Shipping from Dubai to Stockholm arrives on a Baltic feeder or roll on roll off connection rather than a direct deep sea call, so the second leg sets the timing. It suits cargo delivering around the capital and the east coast. We confirm the days when we quote. Gothenburg is the alternative and takes the deep sea services. The quote separates ocean freight, transshipment, the feeder leg, terminal handling, customs, import VAT and delivery. Get a rate for Port of Stockholm
    • Port of HelsingborgSea port, OresundHelsingborg and southern Sweden
How cargo reaches Port of Helsingborg Helsingborg is an important regional port in the south, on the strait facing Denmark. We could not verify current Dubai container routing to it, so we check what is running rather than assuming. For a delivery in Skane it can save a road leg from Gothenburg. • Stockholm Arlanda AirportARNAirportStockholm and central Sweden
How cargo reaches Stockholm Arlanda Airport Air freight from Dubai to Arlanda is 2 to 7 days depending on whether the goods fly direct or connect. It is the principal air cargo gateway and, on a lane where sea can take almost two months, it is worth pricing properly. Get a rate for Stockholm Arlanda Airport
    • Gothenburg Landvetter AirportGOTAirportGothenburg and western Sweden
How cargo reaches Gothenburg Landvetter Airport Air freight from Dubai to Landvetter connects through a European hub, subject to commodity, space, screening and local cargo handling approval. It serves western Sweden and sits near Gothenburg's port, which helps when a shipment splits between air and sea. Times vary from flight to flight, so we confirm the days when we quote. Stockholm Arlanda is the alternative for wider uplift. The quote separates uplift, connection, screening, terminal, customs, import VAT and final delivery. Before you ship

Import rules
for Sweden.

Sweden runs on the two EU rules and we handle both. Whoever imports needs an EORI number, which is free, quick to obtain and required before any customs operation. And a safety filing called an Entry Summary Declaration has to reach EU customs before the goods arrive, under the system known as ICS2. The carrier files it and we supply the data. There is one Swedish rule worth flagging because it is stricter than most of the EU. If you are bringing a car in as relocation goods, the Swedish Transport Agency category can require that you have lived abroad for at least a year and have owned and used the vehicle abroad for at least a year. Most countries ask for six months on the car. Sweden asks for twelve. Tell us your situation and we will confirm what applies before you buy anything.

Documentation

Documents you need
for Sweden.

These 11 cover most shipments to Sweden. The exact list depends on the commodity and its HS code, so send us both and we confirm what applies before the cargo is booked.

  • 01Invoice showing what you paid for the goods
  • 02Packing list showing what is inside
  • 03Certificate of origin showing where the goods were made
  • 04Bill of lading or air waybill, which is the shipping ticket
  • 05Dubai export paper, which we do for you
  • 06EORI number of the importer in Sweden
  • 07EU customs declaration
  • 08ICS2 Entry Summary Declaration data, filed before arrival
  • 09Import licence or product permit, where the commodity is controlled
  • 10Sanitary, veterinary, plant health or conformity certificate, where required
  • 11Proof of origin, where you are claiming preferential duty

Get the paperwork right in Dubai and clearance at destination is routine. Fixing a document after arrival is slow, and storage accrues the whole time it takes.

Questions

Cargo to Sweden
questions, answered.

The 15 we are asked most on the Dubai to Sweden route. If yours is not here, send it with the commodity and we will answer it directly.

How long does shipping from Dubai to Sweden take?

Sea freight to Sweden takes about 35 to 55 days, and air freight to Sweden takes 2 to 7 days. Nothing runs direct, so cargo transfers in northern Europe and waits for the onward leg. Current planning puts Stockholm at around 36 days and one Gothenburg model at around 55. We give you a date in writing when we quote.

Why does Sweden take so long by sea?

Because there is no direct service from Dubai. A ship coming through the Suez Canal reaches the Mediterranean ports first, and Scandinavian cargo transfers at a northern European hub, sometimes more than once, waiting for the next leg each time. That waiting, not the distance, is what adds the weeks.

Is it worth flying instead?

Often, on this lane. Air is 2 to 7 days against a sea leg that can approach two months. That gap is far wider than on southern European lanes, so the usual assumption that sea is obviously the economical choice deserves checking once you count the money tied up in the cargo. We price both.

Which port is Sweden’s main container gateway?

Gothenburg, on the west coast. It handles the largest share of the country’s container traffic. Stockholm serves the capital and the east and current planning actually shows it arriving sooner from Dubai. Helsingborg is an important regional port in the south.

How much does shipping from Dubai to Sweden cost?

It depends on what you send, how big it is, and where in Sweden it is going. We do not publish prices because every shipment is different. Sea freight to Sweden is priced per container when you fill one, and per cubic metre when you share one. Air freight to Sweden is priced on weight or size, whichever is greater. Send us the details and we send you a price in writing, usually the same day.

Which cities in Sweden do you deliver to?

All of them. Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmo, Uppsala, Vasteras, Orebro, Linkoping, Helsingborg, Jonkoping, Norrkoping, Lund, Umea, Gavle, Boras, Sodertalje and Karlstad. Just give us the address and we bring it to the door.

Can you ship a car from Dubai to Sweden?

Yes, and there is a rule worth knowing before you buy. The Swedish relocation-goods category can require that you have lived abroad for at least a year and owned and used the vehicle abroad for at least a year. Most European countries ask six months on the car. Sweden can ask twelve. Send us the make, model, year and chassis number, and tell us how long you have been away.

What is an EORI number?

It is a free trading number used across the European Union. Whoever imports the goods needs one and no customs operation happens without it. It is quick to get online, and we check it before we load.

What is ICS2?

It is the EU safety and security system. A filing called an Entry Summary Declaration has to reach EU customs before your goods arrive. The carrier files it and we supply the data.

Do you deliver door to door?

Yes. We handle freight forwarding to Sweden door to door. We collect the goods in Dubai, move them, clear them through customs, and bring them to your address. You deal with one company for the whole journey.

Can I send a small shipment, or do I need a full container?

You can send as little as one box or one pallet. We put small shipments from different customers into one shared container. This is called LCL, or less than container load. When you have more goods, you move up to your own full container, which is called FCL. On a lane this long we will tell you honestly which is better rather than defaulting to the cheaper rate.

Do you handle customs clearance in Sweden?

Yes, at both ends. We handle customs clearance in Dubai and customs clearance in Sweden. You do not need to find your own clearing agent.

Can you collect the goods from my supplier in Dubai?

Yes. We collect anywhere in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE. We can also hold your goods in warehousing and storage in Dubai until you are ready to ship. On a lane this long, getting the consolidation right before anything sails matters more than usual.

Can you ship machinery and heavy equipment to Sweden?

Yes. We move project cargo to Sweden as well. Big, heavy items go in open top or flat rack containers, or loose on the ship. Send us the size and weight and we will work out the best way to move it.

I am moving to Sweden. Do I get relief on my belongings?

You may. Swedish customs allow exemption for personal belongings when you move from outside the EU, subject to their conditions. Vehicles and other high-value property have their own separate conditions, and the vehicle one is stricter than most. Tell us your situation and we will explain what to expect.
